Etched brooches

Two brooches, or pins, etched using Japanese design.  These pieces are created using the photoetching technique.  They are formed, not flat, to give them a bit of added interest. It would be good to create some that are specifically for knitwear.  I think they are called shawl pins.  I would also like to look at making buttons for that special garment.

Renewal

Finally back to the blog. Just too many other things happening. I am back for a reason, which is to develop a space where I can keep track of my creations.

I require various creative outlets, depending on my current frame of mind. Today I am driven to do a bit of work with my silver jewelry and to follow up on another stream of ideas that has been in my mind for awhile, which is making bags with the beautiful fabrics that I have been collecting.

So as I have already been on the screen for way too long today, I must go and get my energy moving into action instead of just my mind. By the end of the day I will post a few photos of where I have gone.

It is raining and very humid, so at least I will not get caught up in gardening projects, which seem to just evolve when I go into my garden. If I dare to just pull up one weed, or trim a stray tendril...I can get sucked into this vortex movement and plants for hours.

So a bit of discipline is required.

moving along from the 2.0 course

I am now just getting back to the technologies that I was exposed to in the 2.0 course. If I don't return to it within a certain timeframe it just disappears off the radar....never to return sometimes. I am learning how to make silver jewelry & that is really demanding and challenging but I just love it.... A place to direct my creative energy.

I am currently off work..sick...heavy cold type of thing..aching...congestion etc etc. I think that I just became vulnerable due to doing too much. Great trip up to Mt Warning but maybe just a bit much trying to fit in so much fun, plus the actual journey took 3 trains, 2 planes, 1 bus and a stretch limosiene. No kidding the whole trip ended alone in a stretch limo that delivered me to my door. Boy it would be good if a few neighbours saw that one, they are prone to be impressed by things like that. As often happens one positive turn of events brings with it a little hitch. In this case it has to do with the faulty airconditioning. Me feeling sick even then, me usually too hot not too cold, the air was freezing. When I asked the driver to please raise the temp she made the comment that it was set on 24 centigrade. I was freezing, like give me a knee rug. I started thinking that i was sicker than i first thought. Then i felt the vent and it was cold air.

But the day is clear and windy...Friday the 13th.

week 12

Well here we are at the end of Learning 2.0 and I am most grateful for the opportunity to have participated in it. I have learned heaps and expanded my view on emerging technologies. The only really frustrating thing has been being constantly blocked by our IT department. I have been able to access most of the links from specific computers, but still not all. I feel that if we are going to really expand the use of these fabulous new technologies we have to bring it to all library staff, easily, otherwise they will not be supporting new programs and methods of service delivery. But for me personally, I am ready for it completely.

week 11

I just think the Google docs are fantastic. I can see me switching over to using them in preference to my usual Microsoft Office suite. Since starting this 2.0 course I have taken a completely different view of the portability of my email, bookmarks and documents. I travel a fair bit and look forward to using these tools from remote locations. Provided I can get internet access!!! Likewise I can see how our library patrons can use these. IN the past we did not offer word processing services, now they can have their own freedom in that regard
