week 12

Well here we are at the end of Learning 2.0 and I am most grateful for the opportunity to have participated in it. I have learned heaps and expanded my view on emerging technologies. The only really frustrating thing has been being constantly blocked by our IT department. I have been able to access most of the links from specific computers, but still not all. I feel that if we are going to really expand the use of these fabulous new technologies we have to bring it to all library staff, easily, otherwise they will not be supporting new programs and methods of service delivery. But for me personally, I am ready for it completely.

week 11

I just think the Google docs are fantastic. I can see me switching over to using them in preference to my usual Microsoft Office suite. Since starting this 2.0 course I have taken a completely different view of the portability of my email, bookmarks and documents. I travel a fair bit and look forward to using these tools from remote locations. Provided I can get internet access!!! Likewise I can see how our library patrons can use these. IN the past we did not offer word processing services, now they can have their own freedom in that regard

week 10

I would like to see all Aussie libraries on Google maps. I haven't had much time yet to explore the Mashups, but have had a look here and intend to return to it when time permits.

week 9

Podcasting really works for me. I just love the convenience of being able to listen so selectively and not worrying about missing out on programs that I want to hear.

Week 8

I use Yahoo answers frequently. I do see a role of 'Slamming the boards' Altho I do not work in the reference section, I have in the past and remember some particularily difficult queries that we just could not find the answer to, no matter how tenacious we were. In those cases I can't think of anything better.

week 7

I am already a complete fan of Library Thing and am rather slowly getting my entire book collection cataloged. Through using LIbrary Thing I have become familiar with tagging and the functionality of it. I also have created a Del.icio.us account and am using that.

Week 6

I loved the Olive Riley videos and can see how useful this using utube for Local Studies and oral history would be in the library
